manual boost controllers
i have a dawes fitted at the minute but ive heard there is a newer one out that spools up quicker, is there much of a difference between manual controllers?
if anyone can verify that there is a quicker one than the dawes could they tell us the name of it

Can't see how it affects spool up time to be fair I thought they controlled boost once it had reached a target pressure. Spool up I thought, was all about inertia and the size of the turbo and associated pipework. i.e longer pipes from a frontmount = slower spool up
Could be wrong but there ya go

proper boost controllers keep the pressure well below what the actuator needs to start opening. this aids spool up as the waste gate stays shut right up to the point when the boost gets to the set limit.
on mechnical systems the boost goes up more and more as the revs rise. the spring in the dawes device will let some boost through to the actuator before it fully opens. so as the boost raises the wastegate also opens a bit and your spool is slowed some.
not sure there is much in it with the manual controllers. get a proper one and you will get better results.

that might be the one bvm a friend told me about it.
i take it you mean a electronic controller as a proper one i have a apexi ecu so i believe i dont even need a boost controller
