Default Using Y piece when swapping intercoolers...

I'm going to swap my WRX intercooler for a custom made STI larger version. Can I use the standard Y piece or will I need STI bits?

Lol sorry - I haven't even looked at the intercooler before...

What I was trying to say was can everything be used from my WRX intercooler onto the hybrid...or are there different diameters on the STI

Yes James, you can...... whilst the alloy y piece is clearly the best, the samco option is the next best!

I can only go on what I've read...

If you are going to remap, then yes definately...otherwise, maybe not.

Well,
I have just uprated the standard intercooler on my my00 with that from a newage WRX, so not a huge amount bigger, but a bit, and i now have to re-adjust the dawes cos i hit fuel cut earlier, samco's fitted at the same time, so from the fact that i hit fuel cut, when i wasn't before, clearly the intercooler being a tad bigger is helping the cause...... it did seem to drive a bit smoother aswell...?

There's a guy on ebay that sells bigger than STI top mounts for £250...had an up pipe off him which looks good quality...if you want a picture, PM me your email address...

Cookstar.... i would advise against having a re-map and sticking with a dawes..... the mapper would probably say the same.. get it mapped for what boost is safe and leave it at that...... imagine this..... you get it remapped, then decide to 'tweak' the dawes.. and POP...... then the fun starts..... map it, and leave it!

YOu won't want a dawes... but you may need a 3 port solenoid... not sure if they use them on new age ones when re-mapping...
the mapper if asked will provide you with as much boost as it's safe to run... don't expect anything before you go.. and be happy with whatever you get's my motto....
