Default Quick Shifts - Whats the crack?

Hi all,

Looking to get a quick shift for my '05 WRX but i still don't know what to do about it.

Are the shorter sticks that you can get for £50 any good?

If not am i gonna have to fork out and get a whole assembly. Subaru's own is £200!

And does all of this really make a big difference. Or is it just to help lazy people.

Lazy people will find it harder, it takes more effort to shift, due to the pivot point being moved, but this will give you less throw on the stick

Yeah thanks for that EXTREMELY helpfull insite into the effort required to move a gearstick.

And the amazing deduction into having "less throw on the stick".

Anyone else actually got some USEFULL advice on getting a quick shift?
Just want to know if it reduces it by a large amount. Some adverts only say 10% reduction in travel.

Is just getting a shorter stick adequet or perhaps a whole new system.

I put a shortshift in my MY03 WRX two weeks ago and I think it's fantastic! I got a JW racing one second hand from a guy on this forum. It was a bugger to fit as it's a case of trying to fit a ball in a socket but worth the effort. The reduction in movement is quite considerable and change feels more precise. I think it's to do with the fact that it requires a bit more effort to move the gear stick but it doesn't need to move as far.

Hope this helps,

Graham
