Remove the plastic surround around the inner door lever. Then remove the small screw that hold the cup (what you close the door with) pull it out. Then carefully pull the door card from the bottom corner working your way round, as it held on by plastic clips (male & female). Then pull up the door card.
You should be able to get better look at the window mechanism,
Sounds to me that the glass has fallen off the window rail, or the clips that hold the glass to the rail are damaged etc. You could get away with glueing it but usually the whole glass & rail mechanism will need replacing. Ive had similar problems but on other vechiles (not subaru) it all depends on the system design on the impreza (window etc).
9/10 times the whole mechanism needs changing, the glue fix usually is temporary.
