Default Oil

Out of experience wt is the best oil to upgrade to? I own a MY00 turbo running 270BHP? I want to offer the best possible protection and intend to change the oil every 6000miles?
Are addatives such as Slick 50 worth looking in to?

No additives, just stick to a good quality synthetic such as Motul 300v, Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS etc. Suitable weightings - 10/40, 10/50, 15/50

I have a MY2000 - UK Car - Standard ......

Additives are a complete and utter waste of money!

This is an excellent combination of price (£15) and quality:-

Don't listen to scare stories designed to part you from your money!

Change the Oil every 6 Months!

Have to agree with John D, if it's quality you're looking for and not price then Mobil, Silkolene, Motul etc make the best quality proper synthetic oils.

These oils contain no petroleum basestocks, unlike Mr Lewis's little number which is a cheap and cheerfull (although probably adequate) petroleum based oil.

I would use 5w-40 in an 00.

Personally pete, unless you drive like a granny I would advise 3 monthly on a semi-synthetic.

Cheers
Simon
