Under 2k RPM rattle?
Hi All,
My car has had this rattle under 2k RPMS for quite a while and appears to do it in all gears. It is mainly noticable in 3rd and 4th as it takes longer to pass through the rev range in these gears. (1500 - 2000 RPMS)
I can only describe it as the type of noise when you get det... but not as loud? Plinking/metallicy noise.
If i pull off in first slowly you can hear it as the car pulls away up to 2K and kinda sounds like det or metallicy vibration. if i have it in 3rd or 4th and apply the accelerator it stops as soon as i get past 2000 rpms but it prominent from 1500 to 2000. If i lightly press the accelerator in third or fourth to go through these revs its hardly noticable but if you accelarate harder in 3rd you can really hear it!
If it was a heat sheild would this cause this noise under 2K? I normally thought heat sheilds would vibrate up through the rev range. What else could it be apart from a heat sheild and only doing it under this rev range?
Car drives absolutely fine, no problems at all... MY51 Bugeye.
Thanks
