The whole things needs taking apart to do the shells, as the block needs to be split in two..... whereas on most 'conventional' engines, you can do this job by a simple removal of the sump, this is not possible on the Subaru engine.

hey will

as most have said, all engine comes out, all has to be stripped and split in half. it is a big job mate and then you also need new head gaskets and you might aswell buy other bits while its all out to save in the long run.
will tell you more when i see you later mate.

tim

edit to say..... did metion to you about the optimax AND octane booster is a must on EVERY tank until you get it chipped to run on 97/98 ron alone (just optimax/bp ultimate) its not good for it one little bit.

Wonder how the gudgin pins came out.....? Still urban myths aside, if shell contamination has gone through the block the oil galleries wouldn't have been cleaned, he may well be redoing this the proper way
