first id fit a panel filter,de-cat exhaust, boost gauge.

after that think about having it re-mapped.

Chassis:

First thing you should do is tend to the Chassis as you won't need anywhere near 3k to acheive a healthy power increase. I'd consider uprated anti roll bars, solid drop links and a good geometry set up and bumpsteer mod. No more than £500 for that lot and it'll mean you can really exploit the extra power.

Brakes:

Upgrade your pads to something like Pagid 4.2.1. (about £150 for the front ones)

If you're planning on a trackday or two, you might also want to upgrade the discs to grooved ones (again, about £150 for the front ones) and -if you're feeling really extravagant- the calipers as well. AP are the best but you'll need a grand or so!

You may also want to consider upgrading the clutch: the std one prob won't sustain much abuse at higher than stock power/torque levels. Depends on previous use and your driving style though (about £300, then a couple of hundred for fitting) .

Then sort the power:

How much power are you chasing? about £1200 should be enough to see about 270-280bhp via a Decat, performance filter, and a remap. That should be plenty fast enough.

If you want more than that you'll have to stop thinking about upgrading the turbo then the costs start to spiral.

P.S. Don't forget to budget for additional insurance costs!!

decat, filter, bigger turbo, injectors, headers, intercooler and remap. that will see you a reliable 300+ bhp.

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think you need to for 270ish on the MY99/00. It's the new age cars that require this IIRC.

Forgot to add. I'd also budget for a knocklink and boost guage along with the performance mods. Figure on a couple on hundred quid. Money well spent to be on the safe side!
