Help.. Car wont start!
Three times this week the Scooby hasn't started straight away...
first time was after a short 5 minute drive, car was left for 15mins, came back and wouldn't start! Eventually after about 15 or 20mins it started.
Second time car had been sitting at my work for a few hours after driving for half an hr. Jumped in and it wouldn’t start. This time though it took 45mins to start and I think it had flooded for some reason? cant think why..
Third time was tonight, again the car had been sitting at work for an hr or 2, came out and as before it turned over but wouldn’t start. This time I done the whole foot to the floor thing but it didn’t work, so I had to leave the car at work (going back soon to try it again).
So does anyone have any ideas or has anyone had the same problem? It has an alarm/immobiliser but it shouldn’t turn over if it’s activated. I’m thinking it’s more fuelling than electrical. Could it be the cam sensor or crank sensor?
Any help / ideas much appreciated! It seems to work when it feels like it this week.
Cheers

It's the engine temperature sensor mate, mine did exactly the same, cost me £27 to get it fixed at a Subaru dealer.
Fixed it straight away and was a great relief.

Mines does it now and again but doesn't take quite as long as yours to start.
I noticed it only seems to do it if I turn on the ignition then press down on the clutch.
If I press down on the clutch before I put on the ignition it seems to start straight away.
I thought it was my plugs and had them changed it seemed ok for a while but it's started doing it again.
I think i may try changing the temperature sensor if it does it again.

I think you'r right paul... Cause it seems to be when the car is partially warm that it doesn't start. Tried a few things now which really only leaves some tempature related problem or a faulty immobiliser.
I though it could be the Crank Sensor, so swapped this with one from a mates impreza, but it still didn't start and his did with mine in it.
You can hear the fuel pump working and the power getting to it ok, so i don’t think its that.
It’s booked to have an electrical specialist to have a look. Charges £25 to plug in his computer with all the diagnostic stuff and see if there’s any problems. Thought it'd be better to spend 25quid on this first before replacing any sensors and hoping it's fixed.
Cheers for all your help and advice so far

After getting the car checked out... It's turned out to be the Cam Shaft Sensor... which is gonna cost 100 quid +VAT. Atleast i know what the problem is now though and the part should be here and on by Wednesday, so scooby will be happy again
