Question running in?

I'm getting my first scooby soon, an obsidian black 05 wrx (can't wait!) and was just wondering what the running in procedure is? Thanks in advance,
Dan.

Isnt it steady for the first 2k then gradually increase the revs over the next 1k or so?

Bear in mind an engine isnt fully run in till about 10k.

Keep below 4k rpm for the first 1k. Don't drive at a constant speed/engine load, work the car gently up and down the gears, avoid harsh acceleration/deceleration etc.. The 4k rpm limit esp important since running in oil is thinner than regular oil put in at the first service. I think that covers the official stuff. Personally I wouldn't take the 1k service as a permit to redline the car straight away, you might want to consider incrementally increasing the rev limit by 1k every 500 miles or so thereafter.

Regards, and enjoy the car
