Default Wrong De-Cat?

Purchased a De-Cat for my MY94 WRX today. I have been onto ebay this afternoon and a subaru 'specialist' is selling de-cats on there and says that for the classic it must have a completely open neck as per the picture:-

It says that if the neck only has a round hole in the neck as oppose to the oblong one in the picture then it is off a sport rather than a turbo and will not be very effective. Is this true or just salesmanship? I'm anxious as mine only has the round hole and i want to make sure it will work before fitting it.

Any ideas?

The guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Some have open necks and some are oval, as on Megan downpipes, this blocks the wastegate and reduces turbo spike.

Dunno If yours Is a Megan downpipe or not, but I have one on MY94 STi and the performance is very good, nice sound to the turbo spooling up too.

Not sure what pipe it is to be honest, Grade-A rescued it off a wrecked '94, its being fitted on saturday so i will update with differences in noise and power.
