Default More Dump Valve Questions

I've had a Bailey Motorsport dumpvalve fitted to my 94 Version 1 STi for some time now, but It never really gives me that proper dumping sound, just a light woosh when driving hard. There's more Induction sound coming from the K&N than anything else whilst changing gears at low revs. A freind of mine has a Bailey fitted to his 96 scoob and It's really loud, although his Is fitted directly to the Intercooler. I've tried using a lighter spring, but to no avail. Has anyone else had similar problems with the same version of scoob or Is It just my set up?
