Default maf sensor problems?

After fitting a pipercross induction kit my brothers car has started to run lumpy. It ticks over fine and goes well on boost but it stutters at low speeds and normal driving. We have changed back to the original air box now but its worse. Is this maf failure or could it just be a coincidence? Also if it is the maf then how much are they and is there a cheaper way around it? Its an my02 wrx by the way.

Use SEARCH, type in "MAF" and then you'll find out.

Then come back and say sorry.
