Default KNOCK KNOCK big ends??

YESTERDAY MORNING I NOTICED QUITE AN ANNOYING KNOCKING SOUND FROM MY ENGINE BAY
investigating under the bonnet it sounds like its coming from the middle area of the engine, i thought better check the oil and low and behold it was under the low level.
TOPPED IT UP.
the knocking sound from the same area has not gone away, have i f***ed the engine??
is it the big end?? is it the big ends in the middle on these flat fours?
while i was doing general checks i noticed one of the bolts on a coil pack had come lose so tightened it back up, could this have something to do with it??
the car is a 95 import wrx
HELP SHE SOUNDS QUITE SICK!!!!!!! sounds like something is loose...

STANN01.........

Its hard to diagnose a noise from an engine when you carnt actually hear it ?
So if the knocks gone by putting oil in it then you may have saved the day ?
Yes the big ends are in the center of the block......
Keep your eye on your oil levels mate you may not be so lucky next time
