Cool Induction Kits.

I have just secured an FMIC for my MY00 GT and now am in the market for an Induction kit as you can not use the standard airbox with an FMIC.

I also have a TEK2 and have been told that not all induction kits are compatable or can actually cause damage to modded cars. So my question is which induction kit should I go for that will not screw up the tek 2 and will also not affect the MAF sensor?

I would prefer one that disapears down into the wing and doesn't just sit in the engine bay.

If this sounds gibberish then sorry but I have no idea what I am talking about but have been told.

Cheers

Steve

I've not heard of some induction kits not being good for TEK2 software. Only that theres only 1 or 2 kits that reduce (but not remove) the chance of the MAF breaking. K&N is one of them. If you want one that sits in the inner wing than as far as I know its the APS one.

I would say the APS might be the better choice - its what I'd put on my MY00 if I had to - ie after FMIC

If you've fitted an FMIC and you fit an induction kit are you doing a turbo change as well? If so you'll need to get the TEK2 remapped. Not sure if it needs mapping anyway after just an FMIC and induction kit.

Cheers Edd.

I will be just fitting the FMIC and Induction kit to start with as I can not afford a new turbo yet and they are like rocking horse **** over here anyway.

Now need to source an APS Induction kit from somewhere.

I will also be fitting a FM Oil Cooler aswell.

Hopefully no remap will be necersarry until I fit the 3 port boost Solonoid and uprated fuel pump and regulator.

Just need to fit my lightened MRT flywheel now.

Once all this is done I will get it remapped and wait for my gearbox to explode

IIRC, APS induction kits can cause more problems than they are worth. They filter well, but I believe that the turbulence they create makes the MAF readings useless!

Thanks for that TonyFlow.

Perhaps the K&N would be the better choice then. I've been looking at hybrid FMICs and these need the removal of the air-box. I guess with some sufficient monitoring gauges and just a keen eye on the engines behavior the K&N should be fine.

Either that or sell your soul for GEMS or MOTEC ECU.

Cool

Fooooook me I am even more confused now!!!! is the APS good or bad ?

How do you recalibrate a MAF sensor?

K&N are quite famous for filters, I have only heard of APS since wrxtankie fitted his APS FMIC.

The APS cold air kit will need mapping on, due to the air flow over the maf.

APS CAK definately can't be used without a remap, up to 25% lean running occurs unless you do. Go for the K & N 57i as thats maf stable provided its installed correctly.
