I changed the backbox on my car on saturday and when driving it now, if i nail it especially in 2nd and 3rd, i get a fast, what i can only describe as a fluttering sound, kind of jet like.

Is this the wastegate opening and shutting quickily dumping extra boost??

any help would be appreciated.

 

You might be able to hear the turbo spooling up alot louder. Kinda AvvvvvvvvvVVVVV00000000000000000000000000OOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOO ??

 

nah nothing like that.....just this fluttering jet noise. I heard the same thing when following a friend is a decatted GT4, so hopefully its normal and nothing to worry about.

 

Best bet get it checked dude. Just to be on the safe side.

 

Sounds like wastegate to me. Do you notice it if you're in say 4th at about 3k and floor it..? Should start about 3.5-4k ie at peak boost. I notice it when it cold outside, which it has been the last few days, as you're making more boost.

yeah it does it from around 0.9 bar and beyond which is as you say around the 3k mark if buried!....so hopefully thats all it is. I have the CEL light on at the mo as well, but im hoping thats not related. getting that checked on saturday.
