Hi Ralph
There seems to be a lot more work involved getting to 300 than 275/280 on a classic. Up to 275 can be done via air filter, exhaust system and a remap, while keeping everything else standard without too much trouble.
From what I've read, pushing on to 300 while retaining reliability starts requiring more substantial mods, including uprated injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, possibly bigger turbo, maybe headers.

Probably one of the best threads to get an idea of whats involved, all in a MY98 car, so same ECU etc as yourself.

I'm looking for 350+ from my Cat. Spoke to TSL recently and they reckon you can't go past 300 on the standard forged internals. If you want more reliably, you would need to spend heavily on internals, or switch to a 2.5 lump. which they have in stock. Give em a call, they're friendly, very good at their job and honest too. If you want madness, get a 2.5 with a big turbo and the gorgeous TSL chargecooler/big intercooler fitment. Awesome.
PS. I don't work for them, I just went there for some work and was very impressed!
