Basically you remove the resonator in the wing and run a direct free-flowing air supply to your filter. The filter is usually an aftermarket induction kit that has been enclosed in a custom-made box to provide a better seal and keep the air from just rushing past it.

The resonator is a god awfull looking black plastic thing that doesn't look like it's designed to flow air that well, so usually that's replaced first with some hosing.

Judging by how shiney the car is, it probably only comes out in the dry

Cool

The scoops been on the car (that I use everyday) since October '04, through wind, rain, snow, hail and so far doesn't appear to get wet apart from the odd drip or two, if you point the hose at it then sure it does get a little moist - oooerr missus!

The photo is a tad misleading, the airfilter does sit toward the front of the scoop so any rain entering tend to miss the filter.

And as for working only when going sideways - isn't that how all roundabout are taken.

ps, your right..it does look shiney, strange.... since it's not been polished since December 2003 - my secret - just wash it with plain tap water - no car shampoo!
