AFAIK the torsion bar supports the extra weight of the spoiler so it doesn't drop on yor head while getting the shopping out.

Orchiari spoilers come with extra springs to do the same job

having said that my STi7 spoiler on the bugeye I have stays up

Midlife is correct.

I have had many a whack on the head because mine hasn't got one.

Cheers guys. Nothing going in the boot for a while then. It'll stop the wife taking it shopping!
