From: using lots of petrol
Default oil

hi all just a quick question. just got some mobil 1 0w-40 f/s oil very cheap
on the can it says for turbo & high performance engines
will this be ok for the scoob ?

Personally I wouldn't use that in a Scoob...10w40 min for me...Do a search on oil and most advocate 10w oils....at a push some say 5w but safety says 10w

Subaru don't list 0w-40 although the recommended for 2000 onwards is 5w-40.

Earlier cars prefer heavier oils like 10w-50 or 15w-50. 10w-40 is listed for these too.
