Issues with moving from 17-18" rims on STi
I'd be interested in hearing from people who have changed from std 17" rims. Has this damaged the ride?
I have found that with the 18" rims over 50-60mph the ride quality goes rapid downhill and it becomes a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Maybe I am being a whimp, but it never felt this bado druing a test drive with std rims. Anyone else have similar experience ???

I've got 18s on my 03STi and they are fantastic - corners on rails! Looks much better too.
If you want a soft ride, buy a Mondeo.

I'd like to know this also.
I realise the ride will harsher - but was wondering how much?
supertouring - the roads where I live are extremely poor (read SH*T) - my previous motor had 18" wheels and made me whince.Unfortunately I don't know if that was the suspension or the wheels (or both).
I suppose the only way to know would to go in a scoob with the 18" fitted.
Doh! - looks like I sort of answered my own question!!
I'm gonna go lie down.

With the right 18" wheel and tyre combination you will find that the assembly may actually be lighter and the ride improves. A P-FF7 with a 225/40ZR18 PZero Nero is significantly lighter than the std STi wheel and tyre assembly and the ride is much better than with a 225/45ZR17 OE Bridgestone.
