Steering wheel section
Ok can anyone help.
I am trying to find the part number or advice on what part i need to order from my local subaru dealership.
My car is a MY01 WRX STi JDM V7 GL. (bugeye)
The part that is broken is located behind the steering wheel and is the plastic bit with the white ribbon cable wrapped around the inside of it that controls the airbag and horn etc.
I rung up my local dealer and the part i am after he is also confused with.
Here are some shots:
The picture above shows part of the circular plastic section that has broken.
It secures that way onto the car and the wires that are going away go to the steering wheel and smaller white ribbon cable connects to the bit it has broken off from.
Another side shot.
And this last shot is from the back of it.
I have a nordi replacement steering wheel that is used instead of the OEM one and was like this when i bought it from japan.
Also i have no drivers airbag as the upgraded steering wheel is different.
So anyone have any ideas on what part i need to order or the name of it.
I've tried searching but no luck and was trying to get hold of a service manual to get the part number but again no joy.
So any help here guys would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

DJ, I have one of these looms available if interested. The loom allows continuos connection to the horn and airbag when rotating the steering wheel.
If your steering wheel is an aftermarket one without an airbag then 95% of this loom section is not needed - you just need a wire for the horn.
Does the airbag light come on all the time? if so then getting a new loom won't cure it as their needs to be an airbag to complete the circuit.

Hi,
No the airbag light doesn't come on all the time and i would assume this was sorted out with the previous owner. Lets hope he didn't disable the passenger light at the same time... Didn't even know i had an airbag light until you told me.
Yes i need the whole lot because i cannot simply wrap a horn wire around from the point otherwise it will get twisted up when rotatin the wheel.
And as you can see from the pictures the flat wire section has broke and the plastic section is also snapped so i need the whole lot.
Also ive noticed my indicator lights are not clicking back off as easily.
Could this have something to do with part of the section that has been broken off?
Thanks.

The airbag light should stay on for about 5 secs when the ignition is turned. The Airbag ECU goes through a check cycle during this period. If all is OK then the light goes out.
To fool the check cycle, a resistor has to be placed across the wiring of the airbag.
I'm a bit confused why the yellow and white plugs are on the picture at bottom - they are from the main system loom to which the steering wheel loom fits onto:
The indicators get switched off by the centre barrel in this picture:
steering loom in place:
Anyway, if you want to keep the non-airbag steering wheel then I can supply the loom (from a UK STi) but you'll need to find and transfer the resistor fix across to it.
I can also get hold of STi wheels with airbags to avoid all this hassle.
I'm in the Northampton area if its convenient to meet up to sort this out?
