Default 1.5bar on vf28!

Hi All.

I had some Defi's fitted yesterday. I got s shock when I saw the peak boost. 1.5bar up to 4500rpm then drops to just over 1bar to 8000rpm..
Is this too much boost?
Does it drop too much?
The car is a V5 STI Type R
Unichip, Knocklink, full Decat..
What are your thoughts!!

My P1 (virtually same car) peaks at 1.2 bar and holds between 1 and 1.1 bar.

Would guess the peak is a little high on yours? Have you got a knocklink fitted? Is there any activity?

May be the boost solenoid that is dirty? Do a search on cleaning the boost solenoid! Worth a try?

Knocklink is quiet! the solenoid seems to be working well. 4500rpm then boost drops to 1bar. The map must be set for 1.5bar between 3200-4500rpm.

I think the unichip map is set to that.

Someone in the know will tell you if its a good thing or not.

Oops, forgot to add that my car is totally standard, overlooked the fact that your Unichip will alter the boost map.

As long as the car isnt detting and is getting enough fuel the only thing you need to worry about is the life span of the VF28.

Mine runs at 20/21 psi peak (1.38 / 1.44 bar) and holds well too.

TEK3 mapped. The drop in boost you're seeing as a bit much IMHO.

Mark,
Mine was 1.4, then tailing to 1.2 at 6000rpm. and still felt strong. BUT.. i was on a 7k rev limit. not 8000rpm like yourself.

Do you feel much of a difference once it drops ?

yes It is really strong up to 4500rpm then drops too much. I think I will get the peak lowered and the tail off raised to 1.2-3.
