Default FULLY OR SEMI OIL

IVE BEEN TOLD FOR A WHILE TO USE SEMI SYNTHETIC BY MY FREIND.I PAID NO TO ATTENTION WHATS SO EVER.INSTEAD IVE BEEN USING MILLERS10/60 FULLY SYNTHETIC.RECENTLY IVE NOTICED THE CAR TO BE LOUDER THAN NORMAL.ALSO ON MY TURBO TIMER ITS SHOWING UP TO 3.5 MINS COOL DOWN TIME.SO AS YOU CAN GUESS I PUT IN A 10/40 SEMI .WELL GUYS IVE GOT TO SAY THE CAR IS SMOOTHER,THE NOISE HAS GONE AND THE TURBO TIMER IS SHOWING NO MORE THAN 1 MIN OR SO AFTER A GOOD BLAST.IM NO OIL EXPERT BUT DOES THIS SHOW THAT THE OIL WAS TO THIN? BECAUSE ALL IVE HAD ALL AFTERNOON FROM MY FRIEND WAS I TOLD YOU SO.IT WOULD SEEM TO ME HE IS RIGHT BUT WHAT CAN I SAY IT HAS TRANSFORMED THE CAR.

I DIDN'T HEAR YOU.
However, there may be some peeps along to confuse you even more. Or try in Drivetrain, a search under oil grades/type etc. ad nauseum.

10w-60 is thicker than 10w-40 so that doesn't make sense.

10w-40 is more suitable as a grade but a fully synthetic 10w-40 would be better than a semi-synthetic.

It's possible but the model and year of car was not mentioned so it's hard to determine what grade should be used. 10w-40 is pretty much around the right one though other than on newer models.

5w-40 or 10w-40 for all year round use, on a relativley standard car.

personally 10w40 or greater only on a "classic"............................
