Default KnockLink: which wires to the Bosch sensor?

Hi there, not a regular poster on this forum, rather a 'lurker'

Quick question:

My KnockLink came with the Bosch two-terminal sensor (I think that's the norm, right?)

The loom ends with a brown and black wire, which I take it are signal and ground.
Now the instructions say "the earth terminal can be determined by checking for continuity between the body of the knock sensor and the terminal.
But none of the Bosch sensor's terminals passes this test.

So what's up then? Does it matter which one is which? Do I even need to connect the black wire at all?

Any help is welcome

cheers,

John

I used this helpful site

http://stefanostadal.homedns.org/car_mods_gauges.htm

from it I got this :-

Next connect the Knocklink wires to the Bosch Jetronic connector. The Knocklink manual states that you should check which pin is ground by performing a continuity check on the sensor. This doesn't work and I've been informed that the manual is incorrect for this type of sensor and it doesn't matter which pins are connected to which wires.

I wired the Brown => Pin#1, Black => Pin#2 and mine works fine.

Mine also works fine

...so the manual is incorrect...it was my fault this time, reading the manual before finishing the installation, lol...
