Gear to MPH for Gtech Pro testing..
Peeps,
I have and STi 5 Type R and have a Gtech Pro..
I am having some fun and wanted to know what speeds are achievable in each gear "safely".
Basically in order to do 0-60 test I am having to change to third...
Any info would be useful.
Thanks

Complete a number of runs varying your change up point then analyse the data and see what produces the quickest time................you may be a little surprised.

It seems odd, we were expecting the WRX to rip my Clio 182 apart.
I am getting times of 6.76, which for a FWD scrabbler doesn't seem to bad, yet Harp's scooby is struggling to get close to 6 seconds.
Everywhere we've looked on the web, seems to suggest times near 4.5 should be expected.
Either the gear ratio's are out or something is wrong with the engine. I find it hard to believe there's a problem, as the car does feel lively and quick.

You're not trying hard enough! I've had mine timed at 5.00 at Trax a few years ago and managed 5.08 with the G-tech the other day this is on a UK car.
I mentioned that you may be surprised as I was in an STi the other day and by changing up at 6200rpm (even though redline is at 8k) we managed to get two runs of 4.8 seconds.

I have a UK car and am getting <5s to 60 (quickest being 4.67s) but I don't have the shorter ratios so I can hit 60 in 2nd. Below is the data collected from my AP22 (I backed off just after 100 - normally I can hit ~106mph terminal and power is @ wheels).

I tried a few more times today again changing close to red and achieved a 5.59s
Will try a few more over the weekend with changing earlier as advised by Mo @ 6200 approx...
Thanks for your input peeps...

To get my times, I had to be brutal with the car to get it off the line quickly. With a close ratio box, it is only going to be worse by having another change to reach 60. Try flat shifting - i.e, not removing your foot from the accelerator when changing gear. I found I saved approx 0.5secs over the qtr by doing this.

Harps,
download the data from the G-tech and look at it. The change up point worked for me but we're talking differing gearing, different turbos etc. For my set-up this is optimal for yours it may well not be, experiment and compare the data.
Edited to add - don't get too hung up on your times unless you plan to drag it. 30-70 times give a better picture of your cars performance.

u must be granny shifting to get good times u have to really dump the clutch with about a million revs (but not side step) u will knock 1/2 sec off with ease and really 60 mph should be easy in second

In my 346bhp UK car I've got a best of 4.64 seconds on my Gtech Pro, that was on a damp road with a fair bit of wheelspin in first. I'm sure with more grip I can get it to around 4.3 seconds.
You must be doing something wrong, OK you have lower ratios than UK cars but you also have an extra 1000rpm to play with because of your 8k redline.

Thanks for the advice, I might be being a bit to easy on the clutch....
Oh last thing... Seemed to get better times with DCCD right back rather than locked?
I will let you know which garage is rebuilding the engine and transmission! Joke..
