Dump valve...newbie questions
Hi there all
Looking a buying a new dump valve for 95' Impreza, spotted
"BAILEY MOTORSPORT DV26 DUMP VALVE AND FK 65 FITTING KIT"
For £95 on ebay, even get free Samco turbo hose kit if order before February.
Anyhow I know absolutely nothing about dump valves having never owned a turbo-charged car...How hard are they too fit? How are they adjusted if adjustable? That whoosh noise heard some chav cars, is that the dump valve? I've been told by a mate at work that aftermarket dump valves offer some performance gain, (he does drive an Ford Escort RS Turbo though!). Whats the job of a dump valve?
Many Thanks
Marco

Performance gains = Nope
Whoosh noises = yes if it a 'VTA (vent to atmosphre)
All turbo scoobs have a recirculating dump valve, which is absolutly fine. Some people still use it when pushing out 450bhp+. When I fitted a vta to my sti, i noticed that the car became 'jerky' and a hesitation when I opened the throttle. Put original one back on and no such probs.
