Nope not really. Had them and they lasted 6 months in my car (a standard sti2). The tips tend to get worn very quickly. I would look at using NGK PFR7B's instead that will last 10,000 miles in a modded car. Pretty cheap too at £33 from Pentland components (look at scoobyshop)

I put these in my car about 2 months ago and they seem fine, Denso makes them for HKS too

Ive not tried them personally, but when I was searching around for spark plugs, i was advised by more than one source to "not to touch them with the preverbial barge pole" as they (and the HKS) are/have been known to suffer from the electrode melting.... which can then result in serious engine damage.

The G/ready plugs are the best no doubt

I've had the HKS 'variants' in my car, and suffered a breakdown on one.

IIRC, I believe that Harvey actually had the tip of one break off, damaging one of his cylinder heads.

I wouldn't touch them with the "proverbial bargepole" again

Using NGKPFR7B now, with no issues

I have discussed with a NGK technician: the iridium spark plugs are not the best ones for our cars (and generally), the Platinium ones are much better.
Better ignition, longer life, less fuel consumption, etc.

"the trend" of the iridium spark plugs purchasing comes from USA where customers don't want to pay as much as for platinium spark plugs...

Has the Denso's being damaged by detonation got something to do with the Scoobies flat four configuration. Do these engines tend to run lean or flood easily?

Any mechanics out there that can comment on this.

I'm advised that the Denso's are excellent on a well tuned and set-up engine.

Cheers

It has more to do with the Denso Iridium plugs being utter ****e IMHO, and there are numerous reports of exploding insulators with Subaru's and Skylines alike.

If you can get me a set for £25 for NGK PFR7B's that would be great.

Denso plugs are not suitable for anything more then relatively mild tune level, I also lost the end of one (Sti5) which severely dented the piston top however furtunately ,missed the valves, no way would I use these on anything other than a mildly tuned car, at that level they work well. I use NGK Iridiums heat grade 8 with no issue either town or country driving.

I fitted NGK iridium 8's courtesy of AS performance and had no bother what so ever, was advised to stay with PFR7B's but decided to step it up and so far so good.

And remember, "Bob knows best"

At 400 plus bhp on the WRX Wagon, I run PFR 7B and I am happy with them.
On the STi Wagon at 585 bhp I was running racing plugs which are expensive and totally unnecessary for 99.5% of the Scoobies in the UK.
Even if they were free I would not have Denso Iridiums in any engine of mine, not even in a standard car and not in my lawnmower either.
