Default Snow chain question.... EMERGENCY!!

Hi

I am off to Chamonix TOMORROW. I was not worried as it's an easy drive BUT there is LOADS of snow, so much so Geneva airport is closed today!!!

I have a set of chains BUT only one pair. Do I fit them to the front only or do I have to buy a second set?

Thanks

Daniel

Be careful ! I thought snow chains were illegal in a lot of countries now !
I know they only use studded tyres in Norway and by law everybody must have a replacement set !

The roads will be cleared by the time he gets there. The main route into the resort is always well maintained.

Snow chains are obligatory in some countries but I am unable to give you a definitive list. The popular tyres here would be called Summer tyres by most of the continentals, Southern Germany, Eastern France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary etc. They all have two sets of tyres and when temperatures drop, generally below 7 degrees during the day the Winter tyres go on.
