Default Power jerk @ 3900 rpm

Coming back from Oulton Park today, very cold out, doing a steady 80mph. Booted it in fifth, up to 3900 rpm, and then, "jerk" as the engine seemed to have just stopped, then started again straight away, almost like a fuel cut, or hitting the rev limiter!

Any ideas?

Whats the setup for fuel cut on your car?
Might have overboosted due to very cold, dense air.

its deffo not the maf, borrowed a brand new one from prosport yesterday. drove home via the m67.
bit more info:
4th gear, floored it, no jerk
5th gear, slowed down to 50, then floored it, foot to the floor, felt like I was going over small speed bumps! with the car very gently jerking forward with the acceleration.
got to 3900 revs, and the car jerks quite hard, as if no fuel for a second, then picked up again straight away.
back down to 4th, slowed, then floored it again, big jerk @ 3900 again!
tried one more time, and nothing happened @ 3900!
could this be a fuel issue?
how would I solve it, bigger fuel pump?

Chris
it may be ignition related.
You could have breakdown of the plugs or the coilpacks.
On my car when Nigel first bought it, the coilpacks failed and it would stop accelerating and cut like you said.
New coilpacks and a plug change cured it.
You will be running higher than standard boost, so it will show any slight fault like this.

Hope this helps

thanks mark, I can live with it for now, as I don't get up to 4k very often anyway
I'll drop it into prosport for a few days when I'm on nights week after next.

John Felstead kindly looked at my car today, with his deltadash software. To cut a long story short, it was a DIRTY BOOST SOLENOID!
Big thanks to john, and also the staff at ecutek for their email support

It was a pleasure Chris, Delta Dash is great for diagnosing this kind of problem.

Merv at EcuTek was very quick with support on a DD licence issue, top service!

How'd you dirty the solenoid .. overfilled oil or just blowing oil via the breathers?

A good clean with carb cleaner ( why do people recommend bake cleaner tho! ) would clear it, check all hoses though!

Brake cleaner is esentially the same stuff as carb cleaner. Its a solvent that leaves no deposits behind.
