So nobody has tried to lighten their cars down a little huh?? No-one??

Common...... short of removing the seats, what can you do or remove to make it lighter?

Apart from very expensive composite components (ie WRC cars have carbon fibre wishbones - shudder to think how much $ ) you're down to just removing unnecessary stuff. Spare wheel and boot lining is about the limit unless you're serious. Aircon should really go, rear seats, front seats replaced with lightweight racing buckets, roof lining, door cards and carpet. You could replace the side windows with perspex, but don't ever consider winding them down again. If you're running standard alloys, then a set of OZ Superlegerra's could shead 7-8kg per corner.

It depends how far you want to go doesnt it? The spare wheel and tools are a good start; you need to treat each tyre of course. You can remove the stereo and speakers, fit manual window lifters (+ CF door cards), remove the boot carpets, power steering pump and rack, air conditioning.... Youll probably find that the std exhaust weighs a lot too. When you see how much the front seats weigh you might consider good quality CF seats. After this it gets a little harder; you could fit lightened glass and panels in either aluminium or CF. The sound deadening is heavy but you will probably find the car too noisey without it.

As Chris says; diet, it migh be the cheapest 15 kilos that you save. Another thing to consider is petrol level; if you keep your car half full you will save nearly 30 kilos over full, with 2 gallons only youll save FIFTY KILOS!

Half an hour to write that and I forgot the wheels... as CB says; OZ Superleggerras might save you over 20 kilos too.
