td 05 20g or vf34 on sti 4 RA
As above. Done some shopping around and alot of mixed views. The 20g is bigger with more lag but mighty punch, whereas 34 is roller bearing with mega spool up! Had various quotes ie. 20g,550inj,uprated fuel pump and reg. £1900 all in(API) vf34,550inj, uprated fuel pump.£1650 all in(TSL say regulater not rqd as sufficient for approx 400bhp)
Both quotes req re-map
MY98 STI RA brief spec. polished ported header.lightened flywheel. fully de-catted blitz nur spec r+downpipe. AP clutch. uprated forged pistons. Am running a unichip at 300bhp and 278lbft. I want more near the 360bhp mark. Any advice from you scientists out there please. Am i going down the right route???

LOL nice to see that people have bothered to reply.
This is a similar route I will be going down for my STi 4, aiming for 350 now.
are you going to keep your unichip once youve fitted the parts and have that remapped or are you going for a different ECU?

Floyd,
He's talking about a TD05/06-20G not a TD05-16G.
But you are right, a VF34 struggles to make the same power as a 16G and so will be even further behind the 20G.
Not sure about TSL's comment about the FPR, some people don't have a problem but lots of others have found that their fuel pressure becomes irregular within a few months of fitting an uprated fuel pump. If you're aiming for 400bhp you may find you need a bit more fuel pressure with the 550s anyway.

I have a STI 4 RA and am just getting all the bits together to aim for mid 300's. I have gone for the TD05 16g as have been told this should be enough for near mid 300's. I have full 3" decat, uprated fuel pump and Apexi induction currently. Next is to fit a set of ported headers I have along with turbo and a larger up-pipe. I will then be in touch with AndyF to get it mapped with the Apexi PFC.
