Default Overboosting after fitting Vortex backbox

Fitted a Vortex backbox to my 00MY turbo a month ago. Today was the first time I've had it on a dual carrigeway where i've been able to just use the torque and pass in 5th, trouble is, it keeps flashing up on my SECS montior that I'm hitting high boost.
The car was originallly mapped with a TEK2 by Clive Attowe in Norwich, at the time it had a de-cat centre and a scoobysport back box. It only ever used to peak at 16.1 psi on the monitor but since having the vortex fitted a month ago, it seems to be hitting a peak of 17.6psi (or 1.2 bar) today in 5th gear.

Is this gonna cause me a problem or is it in tolerance? Can I just reset my peak value alarm on the SECS to 17.6 and not worry about it ?

Cheers, Matt

theres your problem mate! it was mapped on a scoobysport back box so fitting a afterburner has changed your exhaust gas flow so you will need another remap

B@m, more money ! When I bought it from a "reputable dealer" who advertises here, i was told it wouldn't need that

Depends what you define as 'need'! Whatever exhaust you fit, a remap will be a very good idea, as every exhaust has different flow characteristics. In engine, is effectivly, an air pump. When you start messing about with the way the air enters or exits the engine, it needs to be matched with adjustments to ignition/fuel ratios if the engine is to run efficiently.

Looks like it could have been a costly mistake to take the suppliers word for it then.
Backbox cost me £280 and now I reckon its gonna cost me another £300 to get it re-mapped !!
(Unless I dont floor the throttle in 5th and then it keeps within tolerances)

I cant even put my old one back on coz I sold it on E-bay yesterday.....

Good news....spoke to the mapper and target boost is set up to reach 1.25 bar in 5th under load.
Problem solved and target boost is now being achieved.
