Default Legacy Gt twin turbo exhaust change

Thinking of changing my exhaust...
I have a 94 Legacy GT bi turbo estate auto and was wondering what the outcome would be if i changed the back box and decatted the section before the box???
Do you get more power??

What happens if you disconnect the sensor on the cat??

Has anyone out there done this??

Any help would be appreciated.

Mine has the Hayward and Scott exhaust and backbox - it came with the car. I've never actually been underneath (yet..) but I know it's had one of the cats removed. The other was left so it'll still MOT OK. Regards power, my model is 280 bhp ex factory on Jap fuel and I had it rolling roaded at 277bhp on BP Ultimate - more power?, difficult to say.

Mines running a H&S system, but still with the centre cat, 276bhp.

If you remove the centre cat, it will generally perform one of two ways, more power with the risk of boost spikes, or it goes flat.

The sensor in the second cat is for when the cat gets to hot, on fire

Is that 276bhp from a 280bhp car or 260bhp car?
Are there any advantages from fitting the h&s system, especially without the cat, surely i'll get an extra 10bhp???
If the sensor in the cat is only for temp, then i should be ok to remove it???

Marks car is the 280bhp model. Advantages for me are the burble from the back box and the H&S system is generally cheaper that replacing with stock plus it's stainless so will last the lifetime of the car. I suspect if I increased the RON with octane booster to somewhere near the Jap fuel level I'll see a bit of an increase.
It sounds faster

Gazza,

Mine's the 280ps manual version.

Please check this thread out, as I think it's totally relevant to your Q's.
