was tinkering again yesterday and found a air box under the drivers side front bumper when i went in for a closer look i couldnt work out how it worked so i ripped it out? i think it was something to do with the oe air box but still no idea how it was meant to work?

 

Sounds like you have removed the resonator for the airbox

 

Yes it's for the OEM airbox I have just removed it and ran a cold air feed from the bumper to the box

 

Exactly what I did. Makes the recirc dump valve that little bit louder

 

I also replaced the resonator box after the MAF with a Plenum pipe from Jap innovations
