this is prob a very lame/stupid Q but the worst is one never asked - i know where they are but what do they do to improve performance by upgrading, is it the materials used or diameters etc

Generally the dia & the flow as they have an exhaust pipe for each cylinder & not two exits into 1 Etc, combined with an up-pipe & other supporting Mods they can give V impressive gains in power & Torque.
