Problem with classic
MY98 wagon, standard apart from prodrive backbox and d/valve
Was driving along and came to the lights. The car nearly stalled at the lights as the revs dropped right down then back up, at which point the revs started wandering and the engine sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders. The lights go green, put my foot down and it cleared it and back to normal
But everynow and again I get this, usually when its coming up to temperature. Sometimes I get a judder under acceleration, as if its only running on 3 cylinders, but it clears again past 2500rpm. Its one of those problems that only happens every now and again so I cant really take it back under warranty until I know
Any ideas?
Cheers

Lambda or MAF failed.
Most likely needs a new lambda as the MAF is pretty good on MY98. Very common, do a search for "idle" and you will find many others with the same prob.

same problem on my 98 sport.....was told by my uncle (mechanic) that it would be a coil pack or lambda problem. he also told me that its cheaper to just replace the lambda than test it (not sure bout that) but i did and now it runs fine, i went for the universal one, only need to splice 3 wires together. pretty easy diy job.
