97 STI Intercooler onto a MY93
Thinking about replacing my slanty intercooler with a 97 STI one what sort of work would I be expected to do to get it to fit

You need to cut back the throttle body and the IC port and get the dump valve exit pipe welded closed, sounds like hassle but is well worth it imho.

Hmmmm I had looked at this thread not to long back
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=388548
just not to keen on hacking metal off there as worried bits will end up in engine !!!!!!!!!, so if I have the DV pipe closed up where do I run my OEM DV to ???

I fitted the above to an MY96 and tbh was well worthwhile until I fitted a FMIC

The factory valve wont fit unfortunately mate, or not without getting an extra bit welded, most that i have seen are running VTA DV's. These are fitted by getting a port welded to the metal intercooler pipe underneath.

Yeah - unfortunately that sold straight after the FMIC was fitted, I may still have another stainless T-piece kicking about though. The hassle of fitting the Newer TMIC is well worth the effort tbh as the early 'slanty' version is ****e

The scoop itself would be ok but the undertray needs either modifying or one from an earlier model to fit the bigger TMIC
I will have a gander

In all seriousness, I wouldn't bother with a MY97/98 (V3/4) TMIC, the MY99/00 (STi V5/6) TMICs are the same physical size but are much better intercoolers.
I fitted a MY00 TMIC to my MY98 before I fitted the Hybrid and I could run 1.4bar with more timing than I could get at a max of 1.25bar on the MY98 TMIC.
