Question Losing the 90deg turbo inlet on my95 cars??

Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to change the 90 deg inlet path on the turbo of my my95wrx to a straight one? Ive bee advised that this improves the performance, is this true??
Thanks
Mike

Not really Mike unless you are looking for that last few bhp somewhere over 400 ! There are a number of cars now making 400bhp with a 90 degree path to the turbo.

You can however improve the airflow by converting the turbo to front entry then fitting a 70-60mm Samco 90 degree reducing bend which is larger bore and smoother radius than the original 90 deg cast in bend, the biggest gains come from upsizing the remainder of the inlet tract to 70mm and feeding cold air to a large cone filter.

Thanks Andy,
I dont want to sound thick, how do I change it to front entry and what do I increase the size of remainder with??
Ive got an HKS filter thats green/black in colour and dome shaped.
By the way, you've just mapped my mate Iain's STI5 (in Portsmouth)
Cheers Mike

how do I change it to front entry
Either purchase an already coverted compressor cover or you will need access to machining equipment to convert yourself. I have just converted my spare to front entry
what do I increase the size of remainder with??
As Andy has said you will need reducing elbow which is 52mm at the compressor cover
opening to 60-70mm at the other end

Cheers
