Question Running too rich :(

Went to Interpro in Bristol on Sunday for a rolling road shoot out thingy...

Unfortunately I was told I'm running far too rich

The car is a MY93 WRX

I've changed a fair bit including

Uprated fuel pump
Uprated regulator set at 1.8bar
440 Injectors
Usual K&N + Full exhaust (APS) with no exhaust leaks
Uprated STi Intercooler
Z4 ECU
HKS EVC running 1.35bar
HKS FCON V (old version) mapped to run the mods I've got (purchased from Colin C)
HKS GCC with all dials set at 0 (doesnt change anything)

I've got all the usual safety bits..knocklink, low band afr (dawes) boost guage.

Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks in advance

Mike

At that fuel pressure you may have poor atomisation. At 1.35 bar boost, the 380's on raised fuel pressure may be a better option. This will require adjustment to your fuel controller, ideally set up using a wideband sensor.
If you have enough range on the controller then the 440's can still be used but crank up the fuel pressure and pull back on the injector dutys.

does your lambda / oxygen sensor need changing?

When they get old they obviously get clogged up and start to run the car richer than it should.

just an idea

It may well need changing now if the fuel has been running too rich and has carbon coated the sensor. This would not be the cause of running rich on the rolling road though as the ECU doesn't refer to the value from this sensor at high loads.
