No. If you want to know the reasons why, read up on FLASH memory.

Oooooh I know about flash memory. So basically it re-writes the bios as such?

Now.....what about the licence, they have to get a licence is that stored inside the ECU? What I mean is say someone was to come to sell their ECU, how would anyone know that its been Tek 3'd when it just looks like a standard ECU.

Cheers btw Peanuts, I just reckon you have to tread lightly when asking questions about cars theres so many smart ***** around

The program code and maps for the ECU are rewritten, on the classics it is 128k, of which the program code is the majority. The license information is stored within the flash image so it can later be reprogrammed. You can tell an ECU has been remapped from its effect in the car, or better still by querying it with the reprogramming software which will say when it was first and last mapped, and by whom. Mappers with Ecutek tools can do this.
