Quick KnockLink Question...
How do you know if you need a knocklink fitting ?
Is the pinking noise in the engine pretty loud or quiet ?
Just curious.
Cheers

Detonation ( explosion of fuel before desired time) can occur without you even noticing. U'll only think you need a knock sensor when your engine implodes! Get one fitted m8. Had one fitted 2weeks ago. Guess what, i'm getting some det, not alot mind you. Added some NF racing additive and all is well.
Basically what happens is your mixture is exploding rather than burning. This also happens before the piston has completed its combustion stoke. Therefore, the piston is still travelling towards the head whilst the explosion is forcing it back down again. This causes alot of stress on big end bearings and the crank and basically crushes them.
This can be avoided by increaing the octane of the fuel to achieve a better burn, programming more fuel into the mixture ( remap), retarding the ignition ( I think! ) or just by lifting of the throttle.
