Water Cooled Intercooler Help?
Sold my Subaru but can't keep away!
I have a friend in the final stages of putting a 1993 Legacy turbo engine in a 1974 Beetle. Everything is looking very cool and is about done but we are not sure about the water cooled intercooler the engine uses. We have no manuals so not sure how they work / how to check if it's working OK or how to service it etc. Any info about them would be greatfully received.
Will get some pics up here when it's done.
Thanks
Mark

That'll be a charge cooler then.
The hot air from the turbo passess through it and comes out the other side cool before it enters the engine. This is achieved because the charge cooler is connected to a seperate (from your engine) water circuit. it will circulate water through the charge cooler and then through another radiator at the front of the car which cools this water.
