oil problem/acceleration problem
I've had my scooby for 3 weeks now. Its a mcrae edition.
And after a performance problem today (accelerated and it judders as the turbo kicks in then the revs drop when it get to 5k, by about 500, even with foot flat to the floor, berfore accelerating again in a judery fasion) and speaking to the garage they told me to check my oil level. Bugger me, it only just regesters on the dipstick so is way low.
First thing, should in three weeks the whole oil content of the enigine have dropped so much? (i'm presuming it was filled at the garage before i bought it) have been pushing it at times but have made sure i have got it very warm (aka idling at 30 as per norm) before pushing it even into the turbo range.
second, seems from the other posts the best oil to go for is 10 50 to run it on, is this correct?
third, I've found some CASTROL Formula RS 10w/60, would this be even better?
fourth, would low oil cause the juddery problem?
I was out in it last night and no problems but this morning it started playing up. I have an oil pressure guage fitted (thank f%$k) so noticed straight away when it warmed up the oil pressure was jumping around from 0-37 (30 seems to be the norm).

Older Scoobs can use a litre of oil per 1000 miles driven, you should make daily/weekly checks

10/50 is an incredibly good oil to use....yes its true
third, I've found some CASTROL Formula RS 10w/60, would this be even better?
it too is a good oil; though you won't be using its additional properties to the full...(save your money)
fourth, would low oil cause the juddery problem?
no more likely to be clutch/flywheel issues

take it in & get it checked maybe contaminated oil filter maybe oil pump.......

Problem solved,
went back to the garage for repair and spoke to them today and should be problem solved.
The brand new gauge fitted broke/faulty and was giving a false reading, eight year old car and its a brand new part that doesn't work!!! pmsl.
The acceleration problem was a boost level problem and will be sorted, or may already have been. (not sure wether fixed today or tomorrow morning lol)
so roll on friday so i can go get it!!!!
