Unhappy Help with Z4 ecu

Help please.....I've got a MY94 WRX import and I've been offered a Z4 ecu of a good mate. My problem is my Scooby does'nt seem to like it! We ( well mate ) disconnected my old ecu ( battery diconnected of course ) and plugged the Z4 in and then re-connected battery. All ingition lights came on and when key turned......nothing at all and everything went off-like with a flat battery. Disconnected and re-connected battery but done same again? Swapped ecu's back and mine worked fine as normal. Can somebody please help me out-well confused and stumped!!
Cheers Paul.

Agree...

I ran a multitude of difference ECU in my old UK and I know of some WRX's running UK ECU's

The Z4 base map has also been run in almost every ECU type available (well I've certainly run it or tried it in a 2C, U8, W6, W9, 7D, 7K, V7, Z5, 6D, SB, 1B, 3B, V5, V9).

It's even the base map used by prodrive.
