hi

can anyone please tell me whats the maxium boost presure can a standard intercooler from a classic hold??

also
can anyone tell me where can get a sti ver 1or2 intercooler from and cheapest??

I'm not sure to be honest mate. I run my MY98 WRX saloon at 18psi though its original intercooler but any more than that makes it labour a bit too much, as if its not being able to use the extra boost and cant get rid of the gases quick enough. I dont always think that more boost is the answer, sorting the breathing out is the better option. I got improvements from porting the headers and adding a decent straight through system.

So what I saying is that 18psi on mine seems to be the limit, but Im not sure if its the IC or the rest of the gubbins.

Never seen a Scooby intercooler split open from the pressure, they don't have plastic end tanks or anything like that. The hose feeding them will likely split first if you still have the OEM lemonade bottle and bin liner plastic mixture pipes. The cooling leaves a lot to be desired at high boost unless you have a new age STi IC.
