Question overiding the imobiliser in the ecu

Is it possible to overide the Imobiliser built into a standard MY98 ECU ?
If so how can it be done?

I doubt anyone will be daft enough to publish that sort of info on a public board.

Why do you want to that?

I would suspect that it would more likely invalidate your insurance.

MY98 imobiliser is not insurance approved.
I have two ECU's standard and PE piggy back ecu and subaru won't program them to the same set of keys so if I want to swap between ECU's I will have to keep paying a dealer an extortionate amount of money to reprogram the key's.
Problem is car is running like a bag of s**t and best way to find the problem is to go back to standard.

If anyone knows PM me.

Why not buy another key, get that cut and reprogrammed for the second ecu?

I didnt think that the subaru ecu has the progranm for the key in the ecu.

Have you actually connected the ecu and tried starting it up?

I have sold a few ecus from my99 and never had a problem with them fitting different cars.

AFAIK,the immoboliser has a seperate box under the stearing column which has to be programmed to the key and this sends an 'all ok'signal to the ecu allowing it to start.

However this may be different on a my98.....
