Dawes Device - setting up problems
As the title says really. I followed the instructions from Stefan's website and fitted it tonight.
When I ran it the first time the boost was way too high (>18.6 psi) so I wound it out, i.e. made it longer but the boost was still high enough to hit fuel cut.
I've now wound it all the way out (or as far as possible) and it still hits fuel cut.
I'm going to put it back to standard for now, but can anyone suggest if I may have done something wrong or what I can do to correct it please.
The car is a MY99 PPP (with decat) if that helps.
Thanks in advance.

Have you got the elbow with the bleed hole at the actuator end-if not, youve got it the wrong way round.
Have you blocked the hose that leads to the boost solenoid, again ,if not, block it with a screw or dowel.

I honestly can't remember which way to turn it to increase/decrease boost.
When I first fitted mine and went WOT, boost was 8psi at most. I gently increased it to about 15psi, but only ran with it for about 3 weeks.
I would check the Dawes because you should be able to reduce the boost way down (or at least see a dramatic affect). Sounds like yours is set to maximum and nothing else
People have mentioned boost spikes when running the Dawes with a de-catted PPP ECU. You may need to change the restrictor hole size, but that doesn't sound like your problem (at first hand anyway).

yep that's correct. as far as adjusting it, the shorter it is the more boost- wind it out to reduce the boost. and don't forget to block the hose going to the boost control solenoid as you don't want any crap getting up there.

Right, I checked it in the lab today and even with it screwed out as far as possible, it still doesn't crack until a whopping 22psi (or around 1.5 bar)!!! Adjusting it the other way, the cracking pressure seems quite controllable as I wind it in. It just won't go below 22psi.
Maybe it has the wrong spring fitted????
I'm going to email JW Racing (where I bought it) to see what they suggest. Any other suggestions gratefully received.
