Default AT gearbox capacity????

Hi All,

Helping my Dad change his AT gearbox oil today on his 1997/8 2.5lt lagacy(non-torbo) , we drained off around 4.5ltrs of fluid, but the hand book says that the capacity of this gearbox is 9.5ltr Is this capacity correct?or has some bozo not refilled the gearbox to capacity on the cars last service. It was serviced by an authorised dealer last time and he did tell them to check the oil in the box,not sure why the level is so low as theres no leaks anywhere??

We have put 7.5ltrs back in, going to check the level tomorrow morning.

If anyone can point me in the correct area for this gearboxes capacity I will be very greatful.

PS checked my Impreza handbook and that too says 9.3 ltr for non turbo cars.

Lea
