Prova ECU
Hi All,
Picked up a Jap 'Prova Ecu' (see here - http://www.jprova.co.jp/english/prod.../engine03.html) recently and it's causing me a few problems with det.
I have an STI 4 RA with full 3" Decat and apexi induction, has also had full re-build with forged pistons etc etc. I control overboost with dawes to a max of 1.2 bar as de-cat causes boost creep to 1.4 bar. I also use NF.
Current set up gives me no det problems until well after 7000 rpm (only see greens) however with new Ecu with standard boost solenoid or dawes I see red flashes from as lttle as 4000 rpm with WOT.
Obviously after trying this I returned straight back to the original Ecu.
I have now fitted a Walbro fuel pump and am wondering if it's worth another go or have I got to fit a reg first or will I need still more changes. I have used a cat downpipe previously to keep det under control but as above I now use dawes.
Any ideas or suggestion please ?

PROVA ECU's that I have seen for 1992-1996 cars run alot of ignition advance. In some area's upto 5 degree's more (but genrally 2-3 degee's more) then say a Prodrive Map. They also run upto 16.5psi of boost.
Taking into effect that a PPP ECU runs 13.6spi and a Prova 16.5psi, plus the additional 2-5 degree's of advance, this is going to give problems.
From memory I think that the Prova may even run slightly leaner.
Basically the Prova is mapped to give max performance using 100 RON or maybe even 102 RON.

The guy that had it before me ran it on a STI3 with no problems, however he was running with a uprated pump and reg.
